[ah kuh-pel-uh]
adverb, adjective [Music]
without instrumental accompaniment
Founded in 2004, SingWest is an acapella choir of over 30 voices based in Melbourne’s West. The choir has performed with well known artists including Christine Anu, Leo Sayer, James Morrison, Silvie Paladino, Denis Walter, Gina Jeffreys, Colleen Hewitt, Glenn Shorrock and Mark Vincent. Our repertoire is wide and varied, but primarily based on unique arrangements of well known hit songs from the last five decades. Something for everyone! Many of our arrangements are written specially for us by Music Director Andrew Houston OAM.
We are a non-auditioned choir and welcome new members who love singing and are looking for a choir that takes pride in a high level of performance.
JOIN SINGWEST
OUR REQUIREMENTS
SingWest is a non-auditioned choir, so you don’t need to be a seasoned singer to join us. Nor do you need to be able to read music. However, some of our repertoire is challenging, we perform from memory without sheet music, and we take pride in the quality of our performances. We consider ourselves an intermediate level choir, so some prior singing experience or musicianship is preferred. You also need to be able to commit to attending rehearsals, learning the material and putting in the work to ensure we create the best sound possible.
